Cooking Style: I have come up with what I call the cook-down style of cooking. It’s a takeoff on coasting that seems to get the job done. Basically, I cook a food at the maximum heat setting I can get without the unit overheating and about halfway to two thirds of the way through I unplug the Foreman (but leave the food cooking). For instance, with a 5 or 6 oz burger patty, I heat it up first to 400, then put the burgers on and set it to 425, and cook them for about 3-4 minutes; then I turn off the grill completely, but leave them on for another 3-4 minutes. The result is a perfectly cooked burger, still juicy in the middle, with no need for additional time sitting around. The same deal works with other foods, too! This helps me work around the one real quirk of the grill – the “overheating” – but also gives very nice results on the cooked foods, too.
